Thursday, September 10th is our first Council meeting. 7:00 pm at Hillyard Tech Center.

2020-2021 PTA Council Meeting dates will be held on the 2nd Thursday of each month at Hillyard Technical Center, 7:00 pm in Room 103.

PTA Membership Card update….Units can pick up membership cards at Print Shop, 1000 S. 9th Street from 7:00-4:30. Office is on the corner.

Masks are required so please be respectful of that.

SJSD has presented their reentry plan for school in the fall, in response to that I have had conversation regarding PTA meetings for the upcoming year. I have been hold that there will be no outside meetings allowed for at least the first quarter, they will reevaluate after that.

What does that mean for Unit PTA’s? Those who have reached out this summer I have let you know that in the situation we are in right now it is alright to have parking lot meetings at the schools or any other safe space you can find.

You must inform your membership of the meeting so they will have the opportunity to attend, you will still need a quorum to conduct business.

Since we are now in a new fiscal year, memberships must be sold prior to holding any meeting so that you can have a voting membership.

If your unit did not have an election in March, your current officers will stay in place and conduct the first meeting of the year. At the first meeting your units will need to hold an election and also pass a budget for 2020-2021.

If you unit did have an election in March then your elected officers will proceed as usually.

I understand that this is not ideal but PTA has always adapted to changes and been very flexible. We must be flexible in these trying times.

Keep focused on doing what is right for kids and we will overcome the obstacles that are challenging us at this time. Remember, this will not last forever and we will come out stronger on the other side of this pandemic!!!!
